If you are working on a complex project, which involves a huge amount of data, you should keep backup copies of important files, in case of hardware failures or other unforeseen events. AnyBackup is capable of backing up large pools of data, by synchronizing two or more partitions. It allows you to set up multiple backup jobs, filter files and more.

AnyBackup is distributed under the GNU General Public License, which means that you can use it free of charge, for as long as you want. You can also redistribute the program or modify it, as long as you stay within the boundaries of the GNU General Public License. The software can be installed in no time, but you may need to download and extract its raw Python source files as well.

To create a backup job, you must define a set of drives. Destination partitions are known as backup drives and the sources are known as content drives. Selected sources and destinations are listed on the left side of the interface and you can explore their contents, on the right side. You can target one or more source drives and send their files to the same destination.

When you add a new partition, as a source or destination, the application will start indexing its files right away. Instead of displaying all files on a drive, on the right side of the interface, AnyBackup displays only the source files and the destination folders. If you don't want to copy an entire drive, you can set the program to back up or skip files with specific extensions. All you have to do is add the extensions to a list, on a small window.

If you set up one or more extension filters, the program will index or skip the files with your specified extensions. Partitions can be refreshed if you select them before creating any filters. When everything is in order, you may click the Backup option, located on a toolbar, to copy your filtered or unfiltered files, from one or more sources to the destination drive.

AnyBackup allows you to prepare multiple drive sets, with different filters. Thus, you can make various combinations, to back up your files on different partitions, depending on their extensions. For example, you may create several drive sets, with the same source, but different destinations. Furthermore, by setting up extension filters, you can send images to one partition and send videos or other files to another partition.

Pros

The software allows you to synchronize two or more partitions. You can back up entire drives or copy files with specific extensions. It is possible to set up multiple drive sets, with different filters, so you can sort your files on different partitions, depending on their extensions.

Cons

You can't schedule automatic backup tasks. AnyBackup gives you the possibility of synchronizing entire partitions, with just a few clicks.
